Mint Cake

My husband just had a birthday and he requested a mint cream cake that his mother made a lot for him growing up. I was a little nervous to make this cake since it was a family recipe and I didn't want to mess up.

I think the best part of this cake is the frosting because it's a mint flavored whipped cream frosting. Each layer is super thin too, which makes the inside look really nice when you cut into it.

The cake was a success and my mother-in-law also made a gluten free chocolate cake to put some of the whipped cream on and that was delicious too!

Integrity cupcakes

I have recently been put into the young women's program in my church. For one of our activities we needed a treat so I volunteered to make something. The theme for last month was Integrity, which is represented by the color purple. So I decided to make cupcakes, frost them purple and put a nice flower on top.

The girls and the other leaders were really impressed and loved the cupcakes. I've set the bar pretty high for myself so the next treat I bring will have to be even better.

Spiderman and the Butterfly

Last week my family was in town visiting and we only get to see each other about once a year. I was able to spend a lot of time with my two nieces and my nephew and it was a lot of fun. We decided to have a little birthday celebration for the two oldest kids because their birthdays were coming up in the month of July.

My nephew loves Spiderman so I made him a Spiderman cake and it turned out great.

For the actual cake my nephew requested a strawberry and vanilla swirl cake. I haven't done a swirl cake ever that I can recall so I was really excited to make it.

My niece's nick-name in her family is Butterfly so I made her a smaller personal cake with a nice pink and yellow butterfly on top with some green leafy foliage around the sides.

Both of them really loved their cakes and I had a lot of fun making them!
